Hot in the City

This is about the life of Miss Mo, a 30-something gal who recently moved back to Singapore from the US.

Miss Mo gets back to dating

Now that the Kacang Puteh NY chapter are safely back in NY, Miss Mo resumes her dating quest. According to fortune-teller, in the year of the Pig, Miss Mo would have lots of plum flower luck. Let's hope she would find some good plum flower.

This weekend, Miss Mo has a different date on Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

First, there is Muy Caliente. MC is a US hispanic guy that I met online. Friday was our first date. MC decided to meet at Vivo since it was near where I work. We had dinner at Brotzeit, a German restaurant. It was packed. The crowd wasn't hip, just people after work. The waiters were all skinny Malays. Strange! We decided to share the dishes after looking at the large portions that people were having. We had chicken sausages. The portion was small but the 4 tiny chicken sausages were scrumptious. We also ordered the veal goulash. The portion was again small but it was delicious! MC was taking lots of it! We had some chocolate dessert which was ok. Did I mention that the beer was yummy too! There after, we went over to St James Peppermint Park for drinks. Peppermint Park is this outdoors bar area which has nice looking sets of seats. We chose to sit on a bed-like seat. Out of courtesy, I bought him a drink. It was a good date but who knows whether there would be a second date.

Saturday, I had a second date with Ah Bui. Ah Bui is another match guy. Ah Bui works in SAF as a security clearance guy. Ah Bui loves to eat so he was delighted when I said that I love checking out various restaurants. Since I had tennis in the morning so by the time we met, it was late afternoon. The bad thing in Singapore is most restaurants close for lunch by 2pm but Ah Bui managed to find a restaurant in the Bt timah area that serves meals all day long.

We met at 6th avenue. There are quite a few coffee shops there, I'm amazed. We then took a cab to Ban Guan Park on Greenleaf Road. It's some road deep inside the 6th avenue area. Ahh, alas, we found Cantina. The restaurant looks really simple and laidback. We had carpaccio for appetizer. I had my usual linguine carbonara, which was cooked pretty well. Ah Bui had porcini risotto and we finished our meal sharing the tiramisu, which was not bad either. The house white was a pinot grigio. We even toured their wine cellar and saw the red wine Montalcino, which I visited in 2005!

Besides Cantina, there is another restaurant across called La Braceria, which I read, has good pizzas! mmmm....Funny enough, there's a 70s-looking hair salon in the vicinity. The aunties that came out of the all curtained salon had big beehive hairdos. Hmm...But a good date nonetheless. I think Ah Bui is enchanted by me. Kekekeke! Army guys...

Tomorrow, I'm going to the movies with Olsen. It'd be my 2nd date with Olsen. I met Olsen at some sdu event. Olsen is the typical engineer guy that we all know. He's quiet, more chinese-speaking, wears polo-shirts. I can deal with people like Olsen pretty well. I just have to speak their language. But one thing Olsen is unique is he's a triplet! Now do you geddit? Olsen! Twins! Triplets! It's a first for me dating a triplet! The funny thing is Olsen has twin sisters too! Who knows, maybe Olsen's brother may pretend to be my date tomorrow. Since I don't want to pay to watch Protege, so I ask Olsen to pay. Kekeke!
