Hot in the City

This is about the life of Miss Mo, a 30-something gal who recently moved back to Singapore from the US.

I'm not allowed to pay my library fine

I was at the Library@Orchard just now. It's quite a nice library, more chich than cozy. Lots of glass and metal. I wanted to pay my renewal fine of $0.50 so I approached Ms Noor at the service counter.

I passed her my EZ link card for payment but she said that since my card is linked to 'Giro link', I can't use it to pay for my fine. I need to use an EZ link card that uses cash-topup. I can't use Nets because it's less than a $1. Finally, I asked whether I could pay cash and she said no. I could pay by cashcard though. What! I can't pay by cash but I can pay by cashcard. Geezzz.....

All these technology is complicating Ms Noor and me! It's just 50cents!

Lunch amongst the flora and fauna

I had lunch at Les Amis Au Jardin last Saturday. The restaurant is so lovely. It's in a bungalow, surrounded by trees. The atmosphere was so nice and quiet. We had the luncheon which was exquisite. The waiters and the sommeliers were so professional and friendly. Their service was excellent; the best I've had so far in Singapore. I would go back again just for their service. They even showed us around the whole restaurant and took us back to the visitor center in a buggy because it was pouring.

Oh, if you want those 2 special tables by the balcony, it's table 1 and 100. Please call at least 2 weeks in advance to reserve those 2 tables.

Rollerblading

I started taking up inline skating last weekend. I'm taking lessons for a month over weekends. It's fun if you're not afraid to fall. Fortunately, I haven't fallen yet. I've got to know some new people too. We're going to meet up again this coming weekend for skate school. Yippee!!! You guys should take it up too. We can go skating together!

Beware! Singapore drivers...

I finally started driving in Singapore! It was kind of nerve-wrecking because I kept wanting to change gear with my right hand and use the wipers handle, instead of the signal handles. Moreover, I kept keeping to the left side of the lane because I'm afraid of hitting the curb on the right side. Aiyoh....

By the way, Engineer Y goes for regular session of foot massage. He thought having foot massages was like women having facials and manicures!??!

Have you ever heard of people going for foot massages? He told me there are places like Wan Yang. Kekeke!

Again, there is copyright to this incident. OK?

Have you been to Han's lately?

Have you guys been to Han's lately? Remember the good old restaurant, where we used to go when we feel like having western food but too poor to afford a nice restaurant, when we were in our teens?

I actually went there on a date last Sat. When the marketer A suggested going to Han's for lunch, I dropped my jaw but couldn't think of an excuse to say no. He said he has seen it at Park Mall the last time he was there for work and was surprsised it was still there after all these years. I was too shocked for words!

Yes, we did go to Han's after all and it was still the same! We had the lunch special which was about $7. LOL!

It's really unbelievable that Marketer A could have suggested Han's for lunch. You can laugh but I have copyright to this incident. OK?

Desire

Finally, I went to a nice restaurant here in the city. It's called Desire, at the Scarlet Hotel.

http://www.thescarlethotel.com/#

They have different menus for women and men, although they serve the same dishes. The ambience was quiet and seductive, although the 4 of us were a little too noisy. The food's surprisingly good. Both of us had a rack of lamb, YDD had a lobster with soba and superst*r had a delicious duck leg.

The service was the best I've had so far. The people were really friendly.

Perhaps I can plan to go to the other restaurant, Breeze, for another time. Perhaps I would con the date. Kekeke! Breeze is a seafood restaurant on the rooftop, with a view of C-town.

It's always better than Han's. Kekeke!
