Hot in the City

This is about the life of Miss Mo, a 30-something gal who recently moved back to Singapore from the US.

Miss Mo's Book Club

I've always loved reading but it has been sporadic. Sometimes, I am pretty diligent to read but sometimes when there are good TV programs, I'd tend to watch more than read.

I recently returned to book reading after realizing that reading Today on the MRT was totally a waste of my time. I like the library @ Esplanade because it is close to work. However, it only has books that are related to movies but I think I've exhausted all the movie books I want to read. That day, I happened to be at Takashimaya so I stopped by the Library @ Orchard.

I'm in love with this library now. It has so many books I would love to read and most are new. It's too bad that I can only borrow 4 at a time and I guess that is the max. I can read in 3 weeks without incurring a fine.

Here are the 4 books I borrowed -
The Debutante Divorcee by Plum Sykes. It's about newly divorced ladies in New York. This book is fun to read. I have previously read Sykes' Bergdorf Blondes and thought it was hilarious.

Similar to this book, I also recently read 2 bimbo books by Emily Griffin - Something Borrowed and Something Blue. It's also about relationships in New York and London. Very bimbo but fun to read. I got these 2 books from Miss Wolf and I have since lent it to my girlfriends and they all love them.

Hardboiled and Hard Luck by Banana Yoshimoto. I have previously read books by this Japanese lady and find her writing very simple and direct.

High Fidelity by Nick Hornby. It's about a 30-something Brit guy falling out of love. Sounds like fun reading!

The Waiting Years by Fumiko Enchi. Another Japanese author. I was struck by the cover of the book which featured a Japanese lady in a traditional kimono. It is a book about a women tortured by her husband in the olden times and the book was donated by the Japan Institute so I guess it intrigued me.

My MRT rides aren't that mundane after all.
